Road Trip For Rascals

On August 5th, 46 kittens and a Chihuahua were part of a transport funded by the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation from Long Beach Animal Care Services (ACS) to the Foothills Animal Shelter in Golden, Colorado. ACS staff and volunteers from a number of rescue groups working the transport with our coordinator Diane Holmes, teamed up with photographer Sara Cozolino and journalist Kate Karp to document the journey.

Los Angeles ASPCA Cocktail Party

Los Angeles ASPCA Cocktail Party

Representing the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, Katherine Heigl attended a special event last night in Beverly Hills, a cocktail party to celebrate the ASPCA announcement of a major investment of $25 million over five years in Los Angeles animal welfare. Collaborating with public and private animal-welfare organizations the money will be used to help curb the homeless pet population.

Russian rescue pups Sochi and Adler joined her as she stopped by the studio to talk about the work of the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation and animal advocacy. Check out their TV debut!

Not only has Penny been adopted – after recovering from her recent spay surgery, but her former owner has been successfully prosecuted for neglect.
