When Wendy was found following a police raid on a property in San Bernardino County she was in a very poor state of health – emaciated, with opens wounds, countless scars and a broken leg – the terrible legacy of being used as a bait dog. Rescued by the Heigl Foundation, her heart-warming recovery has been nothing short of remarkable.

Next week congressman Jim Moran plans to reintroduce a bill to the House Of Representatives that would ban the use of gas chambers as a method to euthanize shelter animals. Already illegal in 20 states due to the extreme cruelty and and suffering inflicted by this inhumane practice, the bill proposes to extend the ban across the entire country. Wishes For Wendy

Wendy was found following a police raid on a property in San Bernardino County. She was in a very poor state of health. Alerted to her desperate need, staff rushed to collect her and discovered a severely emaciated dog with a painful open wound on her left front leg and countless badly healed cuts and sores covering her body. It was clear that she had probably been used as a bait dog.
