Adoption Procedure

Welcome to the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation adoption program. In order to qualify as a candidate to adopt a Heigl Hound you must:

  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Provide picture identification with your current address.
  • Establish the knowledge and consent of your landlord.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of the responsibilities associated with providing a dog with humane training, necessary medical care and loving kindness.
  • Be willing and able to assume those responsibilities.

The first step in the adoption process is to complete our adoption application, below. After we have received your application, we will contact you to answer any questions you may have regarding the dog(s) you are interested in adopting and to set up a time for you to meet the dog in person. The last step of the process is a home check by a Foundation representative. The process is intended to ensure that the adoption will be a successful one for both your family and the pet.

If we have not acknowledged your application within 48 hours of submission, please email us at info@jasonheigl.foundation to make sure that we have received it.

Our adoption fee is $250 for an adult dog and $350 for a puppy. All Heigl Hounds are fully vaccinated, microchipped, and, if they are adults, spayed or neutered. If you adopt a puppy from us that is too young to be spayed and neutered (4 months being the minimum) then we also require a $300 deposit that will be returned when you send us proof of the sterilization.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. Your donation will be tax deductible.

Required fields are denoted by a * next to their description.
