The Heigl Hounds Of Hope

The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation operates an internal rescue group called The Heigl Hounds Of Hope, the focus of which is the rescue of medium to large dogs from high kill shelters in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Our rescue efforts are centered on these dogs because their rate of adoption is lower than that of smaller breeds and therefore they are at greater risk of being euthanized in shelters. Many of the dogs we rescue have also suffered from neglect, abandonment and abuse.

Our Goal

If you are looking to adopt a dog we have a wide variety of animals that are seeking new loving homes. We ensure that all of our Heigl Hounds are spayed or neutered and that they are vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped and groomed. The JDHF will also typically hire a private trainer to provide the dogs with basic obedience training.

Our goal is to ensure that your new four-legged friend arrives fully equipped with all the skills necessary to make a successful adjustment to their new home and family life.

The adoption process begins with an application form and concludes after the successful completion of a two week trial period designed to ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the new caretaker.
