When the JDHF first rescued Gabriel from a Los Angeles shelter he was emaciated, a bag of bones after being abandoned on the streets, where he tried desperately to survive by scrounging for scraps of food wherever he could. He also had a severe open injury on his left leg that exposed the bone, leaving him barely able to walk. Despite his poor state of health and the pain from his wounds, the blue Pit Bull remained a gentle and calm soul with a warm, loving personality.

We whisked Gabriel away to a wonderful veterinary clinic where they x-rayed his leg and thankfully, found nothing broken. After carefully dressing his deep, oozing wound he was released by the vet into our care, becoming a Heigl Hound Of Hope. After a few weeks R & R and a lot of TLC, Gabriel blossomed, gaining 14 pounds and regaining his vitality.

So we were delighted when Gabriel's soothing demeanor and affectionate personality were rewarded with a super foster home and thrilled when after a brief period of time, his foster decided to make it official and adopt him! As you can see from the photos below, Gabriel, now fully recovered and known as Butter, is very much settled with his new owner Ty!
