On September 23, 2010, the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation launched the Compassion Revolution, a campaign focused to unite us all in a common cause to create a better community for our pets. In the past year, the Compassion Revolution has funded more than $1 million in a myriad of life-saving programs, in LA and the surrounding greater LA area, such as spay/neuter services at local shelters, transport programs to bring adoptable pets from high kill shelters to other parts of the country in need of adoptable pets, and training/education programs that teach responsible pet ownership and focus on retention issues.
Training and education programs have been key towards linking people, programs and pets together – and promoted the need for a new and expanded web site to foster further connections. We've recently launched our new website and invite you to take a fresh look. The new format features volumes of information, great links, videos, training information, and news articles. There's helpful resources and information for everyone looking to improve the plight of our pets.

We want to share the news, build our social network - and we'd like to make it fun - so we're offering a contest to rescue groups only. Please note that rescue groups must be a qualified 501(c)(3) organization registered and/or qualified to do business in California to participate in the contest.
What do you have to do? It's simple. Get your wide circle of Twitter friends and supporters to check out the Heigl Foundation and "Follow" our official Twitter page (http://twitter.com/jasonheiglfound). The winning rescue group that signs up the most Twitter "Follows" will win a $7,000 Heigl Grant. The second place organization will receive a $3,000 Heigl Grant.
In order to be attributable to your organization, a person must "Follow" our Twitter account, posting a comment stating what group they were referred by. For example, John Smith followed @JasonHeiglFound on behalf of #XRescue. It is the responsibility of the rescue group to inform people what name they should tag in their posts. The tag must match the registered name that you associate with your organization in the application process. In the aforementioned example the tag would be #XRescue.
The grant dollars must also be directly used for spay/neuter or pull fees (proof will be required). Alternatively, the Heigl Foundation is open to creative uses for the grants, but these ideas must be approved before any funds will be released.
Please ensure that you read and understand the official rules for the Heigl Rescue Challenge before you submit your entry.
Sign up now and the race begins!
