Pet Adopters Prove ‘Green’ Is The New Color of Love!

St Pawtrick's Day - A Green Adoption Event

Adopters and eco-friendly pet guardians filled all six Los Angeles Animal Care Shelters last Saturday, March 19th, for "St. Pawtrick’s Day – A ‘Green’ Adoption Event" presented in association with Ruff Patches. At the end of the day, 47 cats, 109 dogs, and 3 rabbits and pocket pets found new homes with adoptive families – a 100% increase in the adoption numbers from the year before!

To The Rescue

Katherine Heigl & The Rescued Pit Bull Pup

JDHF founders Katherine and Nancy Heigl personally rescued a two-month-old pit bull from the California City Shelter last week. The puppy had been used as bait in dog fights in California’s Antelope Valley and suffered a number of bad injuries. The pup was taken to the vet where it was discovered he had a broken neck vertebra. After treatment for his wounds the youngster is now recovering in the care of the Heigl family.

LA Is Going Green For St Pawtrick’s Day

St Pawtrick's Day - A Green Adoption Event

LA Animal Services is going "green" for "St. Pawtrick’s Day," its first-ever "green" adoption event, at all six LA City Animal Shelters on Saturday, March 19th from 10 am to 5 pm. The event, presented in association with Ruff Patches, features discounted adoption fees, "matchmakers" to help members of the public find their new best friend, professional behavior trainers, organic food trucks and other natural refreshments, and a "Kiss the Blarney Dog" Kissing Booth.
